If you want to get to know our small neighbouring country, the Netherlands, better, it's a good idea to take a boat trip. Because you can get everywhere by water: to the cities, to charming little harbours and past fascinating landscapes.

Discover Roermond and Venlo, the green cities on the Meuse, the lively city of Maastricht, surrounded by beautiful nature and rolling hills, and Nijmegen, the oldest city in Holland.

Go in search of traces and there is still no better starting point than the view from the river.

Tour details

Individual arrival for embarkation in Düsseldorf. Our on-board tour guide will welcome you with a glass of sparkling wine before we cast off for the first time on this cruise at around 18:00.

Düsseldorf

Discover Venlo in the company of an experienced guide (optional) and stroll with us through the lively historic centre. The origins of many of the historic buildings date back to Roman times, but other eras have also left their mark on Venlo. The Renaissance-style town hall with its imposing towers forms the centre of the old town. Here you can enjoy a coffee or a glass of rosé in one of the lovely cafés on the town hall square - or outside on the numerous café terraces in fine weather.

The castle gardens in Arcen, designed by Dutch garden architect Niek Roozen, are well worth a visit. During the afternoon guided tour of the park (optional), you will learn more about the construction of the gardens, the history of the estate, the diverse flora and fauna and, of course, visit the most beautiful spots in the park.

This morning you wake up in Roermond. The cityscape of Roermond is a protected monument and bears witness to its long history. On a guided tour of the city, you will see picturesque squares and historic facades. You will hear about the famous architect Dr. P. Cuypers and stroll past churches such as the 15th century St. Christoffel Cathedral and the 13th century Minster Church. The many cosy café terraces and restaurants add to the inviting character of Roermond's city centre. In the early evening, MS SE-Manon sets sail for Maastricht.

Explore the university city in the far south of the Netherlands. Maastricht is a cheerful city full of history and art and is characterised by its medieval architecture and lively cultural scene. Let a local guide show you sights such as the Gothic St. John's Church and the Romanesque St. Servatius Basilica on an optional city tour through the city centre.

In the afternoon, join us on an optional excursion to Valkenburg aan de Geul. This small municipality is best known for its mines and caves with drawings from Roman times. The ‘Fluweelengrot’ served as a shelter for the inhabitants of Valkenburg during the Second World War. In September 1944, the town was liberated by the Americans after 6 days. Around 600 inhabitants stayed in the cave during this time. A boat trip to Nijmegen at night.

In the morning you reach the cosy Hanseatic city of Nijmegen. At more than 2000 years old, Nijmegen is the oldest city in Holland. Around the market square you will find St Stevenskerk, medieval town houses, restaurants and galleries. Discover this diverse city on a guided city walk (optional). In the afternoon, visit a local brewery on an optional guided tour followed by a beer tasting.

Enjoy your last evening on board with a good glass of wine in the saloon and reflect on the many impressions of the last few days before your captain invites you to a gala dinner.

Itinerary or program are subject to change at any time. If due to low or high water levels, or bad weather conditions, a route cannot be sailed, the captain reserves the right to alter the itinerary for your safety. (No legal right shall arise in either situation). The same shall apply for repair or maintenance works on locks and bridges ordered by river and other local authorities with little or no advance.

Important notice Please bear in mind that your ship is not only your “vacation hotel”, but also a piece of equipment that is powered by an engine and has to be operated constantly, even at night (sometimes with lock and bridge passages). We recommend that guests who are particularly sensitive to noise bring earplugs. Disturbances must always be expected when passing through locks. Please note: at low water, the pool may have to be emptied to reduce the draught of the ship and is then not available.
